As part of our effort to showcase external contributors from the eFTI Joint Yearly Conference in Berlin, we interviewed Andreas Nettsträter, CEO of the Open Logistics Foundation. His work strongly resonates with the objectives of eFTI, particularly in driving digital interoperability and advancing open-source solutions that enable secure and efficient data exchange in European freight transport.
What’s your connection to eFTI?
“I am involved in eFTI through the Open Logistics Foundation, contributing to projects that enable digital interoperability in freight transport. We are developing an open-source solution for eCMR, as well as joint components for Track & Trace, time slot management, and emissions data exchange.”
What was the most valuable information or take away from this year’s eFTI Yearly conference?
“From my perspective, the greatest benefit was meeting the people working on eFTI in person and having the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss key topics.”
What do you see as the role of the Open Logistics Foundation in the eFTI ecosystem?
“Convincing the industry to adopt eFTI will be a major challenge. In my view, joint open-source solutions or components can play a key role in reducing costs, mitigating risks, and addressing potential concerns from industry. The Open Logistics Foundation could serve as the central hub for all kinds of open-source development—both from member states and, most importantly, from the industry community.”
His reflections underline a clear message: collaboration, transparency, and shared digital solutions will be crucial for a smooth, interoperable and market-ready rollout of eFTI throughout Europe.
