The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) has been mandated by the Swedish Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure to lead the implementation of the Swedish eFTI Gateway. Sweden’s participation in the CEF-funded eFTI4ALL project is coordinated by Trafikverket, which leads the national implementation and coordinates Sweden’s contribution to the project. This work is carried out in close cooperation with the Swedish Transport Agency, the Swedish Coast Guard, the Swedish Police Authority, the Swedish Customs Service, and other relevant public authorities and stakeholders.
Sweden is preparing the national implementation of the Electronic Freight Transport Information (eFTI) Regulation by establishing an eFTI Gate that will enable competent authorities to access electronic freight transport information in a secure, standardised and interoperable way. The Swedish Government has assigned the Swedish Transport Administration responsibility for establishing the national eFTI Gate, with the objective of having the solution operational by July 2027. The Swedish approach focuses on creating an open and interoperable environment that can connect competent authorities with certified eFTI Platforms used by transport companies, shippers, freight forwarders and other economic operators. The work includes developing the technical and organisational arrangements for data exchange, defining processes for authorities and preparing the national governance and operational model.
A key part of the Swedish implementation is coordination across authorities with responsibilities for different aspects of freight transport and regulatory compliance. The Swedish Transport Administration is therefore working together with the Swedish Transport Agency, the Swedish Coast Guard, the Swedish Police Authority, the Swedish Customs, the County Administrative Boards and the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. This broad cooperation is intended to ensure that eFTI can support the needs of authorities responsible for transport, inspections, customs, dangerous goods and other regulatory areas.
Within eFTI4ALL, Sweden is also working with economic operators and platform providers to develop and test practical use cases. These activities cover different transport modes and scenarios and are intended to ensure that eFTI solutions can be integrated with existing business and authority systems. Particular attention is given to interoperability, data quality, security and the practical needs of users. Sweden is also cooperating closely with other Member States, including through Nordic collaboration on possible joint approaches to eFTI Gates. The national implementation is further supported by the related European projects eFTI4All and eFTI4LIVE, creating a coordinated path from development and testing to certification and operational deployment. Through this work, Sweden aims to contribute to a more efficient, digital and interoperable European freight transport system, reducing reliance on paper-based documentation while improving the ability of authorities and businesses to exchange and use reliable transport information.
Denmark’s participation in eFTI4ALL is led by the Danish Civil Aviation and Railroad Authority (Trafikstyrelsen), which is responsible for planning the national implementation of eFTI. This includes how Danish authorities will receive freight transport information digitally through eFTI, and how the national eFTI Gate will interact with authority systems in practice.
The work focuses on establishing the technical and organisational framework needed to support secure, efficient and interoperable digital exchange of freight transport information between businesses and public authorities in Denmark.
Through eFTI4ALL, Denmark also participates in cross-border pilots that test interoperability between eFTI platforms and eFTI Gates in practice. These pilots help ensure that future eFTI solutions are technically robust, operationally reliable and able to function effectively across Member States.

Operating under the Ministry for Sustainable Mobility, Transport Malta oversees a wide spectrum of regulatory functions through its specialised directorates, each entrusted with the governance of its respective transport domain—maritime, road, aviation, ports, and commercial transport. This structure enables the Authority to maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence across every mode of transport.

Our involvement in European digital initiatives is reinforced through several interconnected systems that keep Malta aligned with EU standards and connected to partners across Europe and beyond. In this context, Transport Malta’s engagement with the eFTI4ALL project is a natural extension of our strategic direction. eFTI4ALL supports the digitalisation of freight transport information, enabling seamless, secure, and interoperable data exchange—an objective that aligns strongly with Malta’s commitment to modernising transport operations and strengthening cross border collaboration.

Luxembourg’s participation in eFTI4ALL is led by the Ministry for Mobility and Public Works (MMTP), which is responsible for coordinating the national implementation of the Electronic Freight Transport Information (eFTI) framework. This includes preparing the organisational and technical arrangements that will enable Luxembourg’s competent authorities to receive and process freight transport information digitally through eFTI. Luxembourg’s activities within eFTI4ALL focus on the establishment of a shared eFTI Gate in cooperation with other Member States, supporting a harmonised and interoperable approach to the exchange of electronic freight transport information across borders. In parallel, Luxembourg is actively involved in pilot deployments covering road, inland waterway and rail transport, enabling the practical assessment of eFTI solutions in different transport modes and operational contexts.
A key objective of these activities is the integration of eFTI into the control processes of Luxembourg’s regulatory enforcement authorities. Through the pilots, Luxembourg is evaluating how inspectors and competent authorities can securely access and use electronic freight transport information during compliance checks, helping to streamline control procedures, reduce administrative burden and support more effective enforcement of transport regulations.
This work is complemented by the design of a next-generation regulatory control platform, in which eFTI data is integrated with other European and national information sources, including ERRU, EUCARIS and additional sector-specific registers. By bringing these data sources together within a common operational environment, Luxembourg aims to provide enforcement authorities with a comprehensive and data-driven view of transport operators, vehicles and compliance obligations, thereby enhancing risk assessment, targeting of inspections and cross-border regulatory cooperation.
Greece’s participation in eFTI4ALL is led by the Ministry of Development, which is responsible for coordinating the national implementation of the eFTI framework. This will contribute to the digital transformation of freight transport by enabling the secure, efficient and interoperable exchange of transport information across borders and transport modes.
Greece’s strategic position at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa makes it pivotal for EU trade and transport corridors. The Greek Pilot would involve integrating the eFTI infrastructure with existing digital platforms and national infrastructure and ensuring compatibility with EU-wide systems, thereby enhancing EU’s role in international supply chains.
The Greek Pilot sets out to demonstrate how the EU eFTI Regulation can be put into practice in Greece, testing the electronic exchange of freight transport information between businesses and public authorities under real operating conditions. In doing so, it seeks to make freight transport inspections more efficient and more transparent, while cutting down the administrative burden and paperwork that transport operators currently carry. The pilot is also designed to work outwards rather than in isolation: it will verify interoperability with other national pilots and with European eFTI platforms, and gather operational feedback from all parties involved so that the future, full-scale deployment of eFTI services can build on lessons already learned.
The benefits that make eFTI indispensable follow directly from this. Authorities gain a stronger basis for enforcing both national and European rules, and inspection procedures become faster and better targeted, since officers can identify in advance which consignments genuinely warrant attention. Multilingual eFTI datasets remove much of the friction created by language barriers, and the combined effect is fewer disruptions to transport flows and smoother checks at the roadside. Ultimately, cross-border freight transport becomes easier to monitor without adding new layers of bureaucracy — better oversight and lighter procedures at the same time.
