On November 25 and 26 2024, the eFTI4ALL Consortium gathered in Brussels for the official kick-off meeting of the initiative. Partners from across Europe gathered to align on the project’s vision and chart the path for the coming months. The meeting was organized by project partner Collibra in their office in Belgium.
Building on the results and achievements of its sister project, eFTI4EU, the eFTI4ALL Consortium aims to advance digital freight transport information exchange across Europe. This ambitious initiative, co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) with over €15 million (total budget exceeding €30 million), involves partners from Sweden, Denmark, Malta, Luxembourg, and Greece.
The meeting’s strategic significance was highlighted by the presence of representatives from DG MOVE and CINEA, reaffirming the European Commission’s commitment to the digital transformation of freight transport systems.
A key highlight of the Kick-Off Meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jan Bergstrand (Trafikverket), eFTI4ALL Project Coordinator, and Eva Killar (Estonian Ministry of Climate), eFTI4EU Project Coordinator. This agreement sets the stage for enhanced collaboration between the two projects, which collectively cover approximately half of the EU Member States.
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation that aims to:
- Leverage shared insights to improve project outcomes.
- Minimize duplication of efforts and foster synergy in developing eFTI systems.
- Coordinate communications with the European Commission for consistent updates on progress, challenges, and solutions related to eFTI implementation.
- Ensure transparency, cooperation, and mutual benefit while respecting the autonomy of each project and their respective Grant Agreements.
The productive sessions during the Kick-Off Meeting were filled with insightful discussions and enthusiastic engagement from all partners. The signing of the MoU underscored the shared commitment of eFTI4ALL and eFTI4EU to revolutionize electronic transport document handling while driving interoperability and innovation in digital logistics.
A heartfelt thank you to our hosts at Collibra for their hospitality and to all consortium members for their active participation.
