The transition to digital freight documentation is gaining momentum across Europe, driven by the need for greater efficiency, transparency, and regulatory compliance. The eFTI4ALL project is at the forefront of this transformation, building upon the work of the eFTI4EU project to expand the implementation of the eFTI Regulation (EU) 2020/1056.
A complementary approach: eFTI4EU and eFTI4ALL
While eFTI4EU focuses on supporting Competent Authorities in adopting digital freight transport information, eFTI4ALL extends the scope by actively involving Economic Operators. By integrating businesses into the eFTI framework, the project ensures that real-world logistics needs are addressed, paving the way for practical and scalable digital solutions.
Developing and testing eFTI solutions
eFTI4ALL is committed to developing and validating electronic data exchange environments that facilitate seamless communication between businesses and authorities. Key activities include:
- Pilot projects in live transport operations: testing eFTI Platforms and Gates in real-world scenarios, both at a national and cross-border level, to assess their performance, scalability, and integration capabilities.
- Refining the eFTI Architecture: ensuring that digital freight solutions meet operational needs by fine-tuning technical specifications and interoperability frameworks.
- Cross-border data exchange: establishing models for secure and efficient data sharing between EU Member States, enabling a harmonized digital freight ecosystem.
- Legal implementation and certification: developing strategies to certify eFTI Platforms ensuring compliance with EU regulations and fostering trust in digital solutions.
- National roadmaps and governance: supporting each Member State in structuring their eFTI adoption strategies, including governance frameworks for long-term implementation and compliance.
eFTI4ALL is structured around four Work Packages (WPs), each playing a vital role in turning eFTI into a practical reality:
- WP1 – Common eFTI analysis and specifications
- WP2 – eFTI implementation
- WP3 – Communication, dissemination, and capacity building
- WP4 – Project management, eFTI interoperability, and coordination
The project is coordinated by Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration.
