The recent Group on Road Transport meeting held on October 6-7 2025, at the University of Malta, featured a dedicated session on eFTI led by the eFTI4ALL project team as part of the broader discussions on digital freight transport initiatives.
The ECMT Group on Road Transport (RTG) is responsible for regulating and developing the ECMT Multilateral Quota System, which issues licenses used by hauliers transporting goods across a broad European region spanning 43 countries. The RTG’s role is key in applying policies and quality standards to promote seamless, sustainable, and equivalent freight transport across its member countries.
Malta, representing the eFTI4ALL consortium, presented their ongoing work on eFTI implementation, and this session provided delegates with valuable insights into the project scope, milestones, and collaborative efforts advancing the digital transformation of freight transport documentation.
A highlight from the event was a presentation delivered by Heiti Mering (eFTI Experts OÜ). Heiti engaged both the delegates during the meeting and the ATTO board members in a separate session at Express Trailers. His presentation deepened the understanding of eFTI4ALL’s objectives, practical use cases, and future synergies in the European transport ecosystem.
These meetings played a crucial role in strengthening cooperation and enhancing awareness among policy makers and industry stakeholders about the benefits and challenges of eFTI adoption.
