On August 7, 2025, the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique (CTM) presented its flagship regional logistics initiatives during the 13th Meeting of Directors of Civil Aviation of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean (ICAO – NACC/DCA/13) and the 4th Regional Cooperation Meeting, held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The presentation, delivered by the French West Indies and Guyana Civil Aviation Safety Directorate (DSAC), highlighted two major developments driving innovation and connectivity in the Greater Caribbean:
-
The First Air Transport Conference in Martinique: a landmark initiative to strengthen long-haul and intra-regional air links, optimize freight capacity, and foster sustainable innovation in aviation.
-
The LAC eFTI4ALL pilot site: part of the European eFTI4ALL project, co-funded by the EU under the CEF program. This pilot marks a strategic step toward the digitalisation of freight transport documents across the Greater Caribbean, ensuring interoperability with EU standards while promoting more efficient, secure, and sustainable supply chains.
Both initiatives are part of the Territorial Logistics Strategy, launched under the leadership of Mr. Serge Letchimy, President of the Executive Council of the CTM, and implemented by Ms. Sandra Casanova, President of the Territorial Logistics Strategy – Research and Innovation Policy Commission. Together, they reflect a comprehensive approach that integrates infrastructure development, innovation, and regional cooperation, laying the foundations for a resilient and future-ready logistics network. By creating stronger connections between airlines, ports, logistics companies, public institutions, and research centers, the aim is to accelerate the transformation of regional supply chains and foster greater competitiveness for Caribbean economies.
On this occasion, Martinique extended an open invitation to stakeholders across the Greater Caribbean to actively contribute to this shared agenda. Collaboration and innovation will be key in building fluid, sustainable, and high-performing logistics ecosystems.
The eFTI4ALL consortium warmly thanks DSAC Martinique for its commitment and the ICAO NACC for providing a global platform for knowledge-sharing and international outreach. This engagement demonstrates the growing impact of eFTI4ALL, not only within the European Union but also in its outermost regions and in partnerships with neighbouring countries.
As the 2027 deadline for the eFTI Regulation approaches, initiatives like the Martinique pilot site underline the potential of digital freight data to bridge continents, improve transparency, and deliver tangible benefits to both businesses and citizens.
