Vedia eFTI platformVEDIAFI

Overview

Vediafi is building a third-party eFTI platform offered as a service, and testing it in the two settings where it expects demand: road transport in collaboration with an eCMR platform, and rail and terminal operations at a logistics hub.

The platform’s differentiator is not the data exchange itself but what can be built on top of it — emission calculations and statistics as value-adding services derived from eFTI data.

Four use cases run in parallel: road transport in collaboration with an external eCMR platform, multimodal road-to-rail and rail-to-road transport, terminal operations at the Kouvola hub, and platform-to-Gate communication with the Finnish eFTI Gate.

Piloting — platform connected to the Finnish eFTI Gate; four use cases in progress
  • Enable end-to-end eFTI data exchange.
  • Establish road and rail eFTI use cases.
  • Analyse terminal and hub operations, and the associated eFTI platform use cases and potential.
  • Integrate eFTI and CO₂ calculations.
  • Develop an eFTI platform SaaS solution.

UC2

UC3

Terminal operations and the eFTI platform.

UC4

eFTI platform to eFTI Gate communication.

All four use cases advanced during the reporting period. On road transport, a first version of the connection between the eCMR platform (iToDEV) and the Vedia eFTI platform was established during 2025; it needs updating once the revised regulation and data model requirements are available, with development and testing continuing through Q4 2026. On multimodal transport, the main railway operator has been connected to the platform in collaboration with Kouvola Innovation, and the platform now receives train information for trains approaching the Kouvola terminal — rail only for the moment, with extension to a rail-to-road pilot expected by early 2027.

On terminal operations, an integration plan for terminal systems and the platform has been designed with Kouvola Innovation; the terminal system connection is not yet in place, but railway operator messages were connected during spring 2026. On platform-to-Gate communication, the Vedia platform was connected to the Finnish eFTI Gate, with the interface to be updated in Q3 2026 as the new requirements arrive, and Vediafi has collaborated closely with Fintraffic on planning the Gate’s platform developer portal for eFTI platform developers.
