Our eFTI4ALL project partner Pionira has been working on logistics digitalisation for more than 12 years. They are now sharing some of their customers’ success stories and how implementing e-CMR has benefited their businesses.
eFTI is not e-CMR, but these real-life examples tell a much wider story about how transport companies can benefit from digitalisation.
Bram Macharis from Transport Macharis puts it simply:“Everyone knows that eCMR will one day become the standard. The only question is when. We did not want to wait until it became mandatory, but rather reap the benefits now.” Transport Macharis is also taking a hybrid approach: some customers already use a fully digital e-CMR process, while others still use the option to print the document.
And this is not the only example. In 2018, Zoutman, an international player in the salt sector, decided to take the step towards digital transport documents. They started with a test involving one driver and soon expanded to larger transports. The results included significant time savings, fewer errors, greater readability, real-time tracking and no more physical filing. As Supply Chain Manager Wouter puts it: “We haven’t regretted it for a single minute.”
These examples show that digitalisation doesn’t happen overnight. Different companies, customers and processes may move at different speeds – and for some time, digital and paper processes may need to coexist. But starting early can mean gaining the benefits and experience before digital processes become the standard.
