On 26–27 May 2025, the Odette 2025 Conference gathered leading voices in digital logistics and automotive supply chain transformation in Bratislava. Among the speakers was Rudy Hemeleers, member of the eFTI Expert Team and part of the eFTI4ALL consortium’s coordination structure, who presented a forward-looking perspective on aligning the UN/CEFACT e-CMR protocol with the EU’s eFTI Regulation (EU 2020/1056).
His intervention outlined how e-CMR data can be integrated into certified eFTI Platforms to support regulatory compliance, reduce administrative burden, and enhance cross-border coordination. Drawing from real implementation scenarios and the upcoming 2027 regulatory mandate, Hemeleers demonstrated how the eFTI subset, based on the UN/CEFACT Multimodal Transport Reference Model, enables both B2B and B2G exchanges.
The presentation stressed the importance of using harmonised e-CMR data to simplify enforcement, customs, and VAT processes, while supporting real-time updates from ERP and TMS systems. He also highlighted the role of national eFTI Gates and the EU’s trusted eDelivery infrastructure in enabling secure, federated data exchange between stakeholders and Member States.
Closing with a strong call to action, Hemeleers encouraged economic operators to begin testing pilot use cases now, to prepare well ahead of the Regulation’s application deadline in July 2027.
