On 17 June 2025, the eFTI4ALL project joined forces with the EU-funded ADMIRAL and CLEVER initiatives to host a joint webinar titled “Greener freight made easy: better emission tracking & smarter data sharing”.

Targeted at companies in the logistics and transport sectors, the event brought together over 100 registered participants and featured contributions from leading experts, project partners, and digital solution providers. The session explored how smarter data-sharing practices and digital platforms can support the green transition in freight, particularly by enabling accurate emission tracking, improving operational transparency, and supporting regulatory compliance.

Among the highlights:

  • An opening keynote on the long-term vision for green and digital logistics by Professor Alan McKinnon

  • Strategic insights into the role of EU regulations in linking sustainability and digitalisation by Dr Stavros Karamperidis (University of Plymouth)

  • A technical overview of emission calculation methods and standards, including input by Alan Lewis and Violetta Matzoros (Smart Freight Centre)

  • A live demonstration of a digital platform enabling structured emission data exchange, presented by AWAKE.ai‘s Simo Salminen

  • Real-world case studies from companies piloting data-driven approaches to freight sustainability, presented by Oguz-Kaan Öztürk (ABONA)

The event also underscored the importance of aligning data formats and frameworks—such as eFTI and e-CMR—to streamline information flows across borders and reduce administrative overhead.

The success of the session highlights the growing need for collaborative knowledge-sharing around digital logistics, and the critical role that joint initiatives like eFTI4ALL, ADMIRAL, and CLEVER play in preparing European freight ecosystems for a more sustainable future.
