On April 21st, the webinar “Logistics Digital Transformation & Connectivity in the Greater Caribbean” took place, bringing together European institutions, Caribbean stakeholders, and industry representatives to discuss the digital transformation of freight transport.

The event focused on the strategic role of Martinique, which has been identified as a pilot territory for the deployment of eFTI in the Caribbean region. Local authorities highlighted the island’s ambition to move beyond its status as an outermost European region and position itself as a logistics bridge between Europe and the Greater Caribbean.

As a member of the eFTI4ALL project, Martinique aims to establish a digital corridor that facilitates trade flows, supports regional integration, and strengthens the competitiveness of local industries. The initiative is also expected to reduce operational costs, improve supply chain visibility, and foster more efficient connections with both European and Caribbean markets. With the EU-wide implementation of eFTI foreseen by 2027, Martinique’s pilot experience is set to play a crucial role, potentially serving as a reference model for other regions and reinforcing its position at the crossroads of global logistics networks.
